Ring and Pinion

Chrysler 8" IFS standard cut axles have an 8" ring gear that bolts to the carrier with (10) 3/8" – 24 bolts. The pinion has a 1.406" diameter shaft with 26 splines. This axle can be visually identified by its 10 cover bolts. This axle was available with only one carrier that supported all available gear ratios which were 3.90 through 4.56, and it was used between two different time periods. The first version was on 2000 to early 2003 vehicles and the second was on mid-2003 and newer vehicles. This axle is sometimes referred to as a C205, a 205MM, or a C205MM. This is a reference to the ring gear diameter in millimeters; 205MM = 8.071 inches.
